residence.   nowhere and everywhere (his home base is his private island)t'ai madge grew up in an orphanage in costa del sol. he has no knowledge of his birth parents since his earliest memories were of the orphanage. the place treated him well, but he was always rambunctious and craved adventure. every day he'd watch ships come to port, then leave towards the seemingly unending horizon and he grew to envy the sailors.
at the age of 11, t'ai finally ran away by stowing away on one of the big merchant ships. he ended up not far in limsa lominsa, but was more than happy about this. the bustling port city was far larger and more exciting than the quaint coastal town of costa del sol. even at a young age he had a lot of charisma which helped him make fast friends with the local street urchins. together they formed a little gang that thrived on picking pockets and hustling the sailors who were in the city for a short while. though life as a ruffian on the streets wasn't easy, t'ai found happiness in this exciting life and formed family-like bonds with his friends.

as a teen, he was brought under the wing of the rogue's guild and started off doing manual labor for them in exchange for food and a place to sleep (when he could be bothered to stay in one place long enough). it wasn't long before jacke took notice of him and started to train him. though not one quick to violence, t'ai was a natural at the art of knives.
as his reputation grew, he began to put on shows at the docks where he'd challenge out of town sailors to a duel. with his small stature, not many could resist, having no idea they were about to be hustled. win or lose, though, it was always a gain since the whole show was a rouse for his gang to easily pick the pockets of any onlookers.
it was a great gig that afforded t'ai a fine life, but soon he became restless. he craved more adventure, wanting to see the world. once he learned all he could from jacke, he became an adventurer for hire and began to explore every corner of the source he could.

g'raha tia :// though t'ai was flirty towards g'raha in a realm reborn, he was sure he'd never see the miqo'te again. it wasn't until near the end of Shadowbringers, after t'ai was mourning the realization that he'd never be with ardbert, that he started to connect with the crystal exarch. there was something in the exarch's words that rang true with him, and something even more meaningful in the way the exarch sough t'ai out specifically to talk to without the ears of anyone else. when the exarch later revealed himself to be g'raha all along, t'ai began to understand that the feelings he has towards the miqo'te are deeper than anything he's felt for anyone else. after t'ai thought he lost g'raha for good in the plan that crystalized the exarch, the two forged an unbreakable bond of love. though they still live their lives that take them to the many corners of the source (and beyond), they always find their way back to one another.
